BBC Watchdog Receives 200 Complaints about DPF
Recently, investigation series Watchdog picked up on a motor problem that city drivers with diesel vehicles are encountering as a result of stop/start driving. Forté highlighted this problem back in September when launching its new product, DPF Cleaner and Regenerator, as a solution.
Watchdog presenter, Chris Hollins, explained how city cars are the perfect solution for urban drivers, however as Forté has previously illustrated, diesel engines can struggle with short distance driving as the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) becomes blocked with soot. The DPF is a part in the exhaust which is designed to trap and remove soot or particulate matter from the exhaust gases which is then burnt off at a higher temperature in a process called regeneration.
Watchdog reported that they had received over 200 complaints from consumers about problems with Diesel Particulate Filters from a range of manufacturers. The programme continued to outline that many of these drivers had to fork out hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of pounds for mechanics to rectify the problem.
Forté, whose Technical Helpline has also seen an increase in complaints of a similar nature, developed their new treatment, DPF Cleaner and Regenerator, which has been specifically formulated to combat the adverse effects that start/stop driving conditions have on Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration.
Phil Dugmore, Technical Manager at Forté, said: “The fact that Watchdog has outlined this problem shows how common it actually is. Our treatment has been developed to economically benefit the consumer as complete replacement of the filter is costly, and can also prove to be a recurring problem.”
