Brand New Cookie Party is Set to be a Real Tweet
An opportunity for local businesses to meet and forge new relationships has arisen from a simple, innocent birthday tweet. Warwick Cookie Party, a free event that began on Twitter, is scheduled to take place on 1st March 2012 at Pancho Tapas Bar, Warwick, providing a small, intimate platform on which to meet fellow business people from the region.
The event began as a response on Twitter to Office Manager Louise Taylor’s home-baked cookies, which she brought into the office to celebrate her birthday. As fellow businesses in the region joked about getting a bite of the cookies themselves, a brand new hashtag was born and Warwick Cookie Party was set up, with plans to become a frequent event.
Taking place between 1.30pm to 3.30pm, Warwick Cookie Party is designed to cater for business people that rarely get the opportunity to attend other ‘meet and greet’ events that are typically organised for mornings or evenings. By holding the event in the afternoon, it becomes more accessible for people that may have to collect children from school, prepare meals for their families or who are simply too busy to attend at other times.
Following on from the success of regional hashtag #followbigbear, which got Warwickshire businesses connected on Twitter after trending in the UK, Warwick Cookie Party has already helped to engage a number of regional businesses on social networks. Coventry-based Two Cousins Bakery has been announced as the official cookie baker and will be offering a range of delicious treats for visitors to sample. Also confirmed to attend and helping to promote the event are Warwick Events UK, local media man Jack Linstead and the organisers of Warwick Tweet Up.
Louise Taylor, whose innocent tweet was behind the event commented: “Warwick Cookie Party is a fantastic example of how new ideas and relationships can be forged from social networking. Who would have thought that one minute I would be innocently tweeting about some cookies I had made for my birthday and the next, I’d be looking forward to meeting a number of local businesses at the very first Warwick Cookie Party.”
