Commercial director Denise Taylor said: “Things are moving so rapidly with social media now an established part of everyday life. Although businesses are taking advantage of the opportunities this offers, many don’t have a proper strategy in place.
“This can make their online marketing activity a bit hit and miss. Even more worrying is the fact that the majority of companies don’t put a social media policy in place to protect their company’s assets.”
It is estimated that 71 per cent of companies having no social media policy at all, which means they have no control over what their staff are saying about their companies online or how they are using social media at work. A recent survey reported that UK business could be losing a massive £14 billion per year on staff spending time on their personal Facebook networks.
“This is clearly something that businesses need to address straight away,” added Miss Taylor. “A strong social media strategy and policy combined will make all the difference to a company’s success in the new digital era.”
Delegates who attended the seminar received a free ebook developed by Bridge which gives helpful hints and tips on developing a social media strategy and policy.
