Coventry firm helps city star get Olympic bid back on track
While the starting gun has sparked the clamour for London 2012 tickets, a Coventry company is helping a city athlete get her bid for Olympic glory back on track.
Leading city centre-based insolvency practice Cranfield Business Recovery has renewed its sponsorship of Olympic hopeful middle distance runner Katrina Wootton.
The Coventry University graduate ranks in the top five in the UK in 1500m, 3000m and 5000m and is a previous gold medallist in the 1500m at the European Junior Olympics.
Following an illness in the early part of last year, Katrina got her training regime back on track in her bid to fulfil every athlete’s ultimate ambition and compete at the Olympics on home soil.
The Olympic Games get underway on 27 July next year and run until 12 August, while the Paralympic Games will run from 29 August to 9 September. Coventry will play a major part in the Olympic Games with the city’s Ricoh Arena staging football matches in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
Katrina said: “Sponsorship is a major support for my athletics career in helping me fulfil my ambition. Looking ahead, I’m getting stronger and things are going in the right direction.”
Brett Barton, director at Cranfield Business Recovery, said: “The London 2012 Olympic Games is expected to be the greatest sporting show on earth and we are thrilled to continue supporting Katrina in her ambition to take part. We at Cranfield wish her every success and hope our ongoing support will play a part in helping Katrina fulfil her potential.”
Cranfield Business Recovery has been going from strength to strength since its launch in 2002, advising companies and individuals in financial difficulty. The company has recently added to its team of 15 with the appointment of insolvency practitioner and Chartered Accountant Dan Haigh as senior manager, and law and accounts graduate George Grineaux as administrator.
